I have always had pet dogs in my life since I was a toddler. I cannot imagine living without the love of a dog. I currently have two miniature dachshunds, Josey Mae and Milly Mae. They do everything with me, from walks, shopping, camping, and even wiener dog races. We have so much fun together. Josey came to me at nine weeks old from a not-so-great situation. She was very timid and afraid of pretty much any person she met. She has come full circle, and although she is still a bit timid at first, she loves to get belly rubs and attention, especially from kids.

Milly is quite the little clown; she loves to chase balls and play with her other “siblings.” She does not know a stranger, and she loves everyone she meets. She is a super-fast runner for having 4-inch legs and is an extra-long hotdog. We got the idea to open a doggy daycare from some friends of ours who used to live in Kirksville and said that is one thing our town is lacking with our love of dogs that immediately sparked an interest and idea for us that we are currently turning into reality. I cannot wait to meet and spend time with your fur babies as well.

Dogs have always been a part of my life. I have had dogs in the house my whole life and have two miniature dachshunds, Sally and Daisy. Sally has an old soul and loves everyone and everything. She unfortunately suffered from a ruptured vertebrae that left her paralyzed; however, after surgery and a long recovery, she was able to get control of her back legs again. She is back to the bone-chewing-loving dog she has always been.

My other dog, Daisy, is the best-trained dog I have ever had when a tennis ball is involved. She will do anything to get a tennis ball and play fetch all day. She has run a few 5k races with me and won one in 19:30, which is impressive for a human, let alone a dog with 4-inch legs. I love being able to take her on runs with me.

My grandma raised Shih Tzus, Maltese, and Pugs. I helped her around the puppy house while at her place. She would always allow us grandkids to bring all the puppies she had at the time into the house to play. She knew how important it was to socialize the puppies with people before they even went to a forever home.

I have always been an animal lover, and I married into a dog-loving family where there are more dogs than people at family events! The newest addition to our family was my own puppy, Pickles. My love for dogs grew even more after getting my spunky dachshund. I can’t wait to get to know your dogs!

Hello fellow Dog lovers! This is my shadow, Marsha, she is loving, playful, and loves to come everywhere with me. I am a graduate of Knox County '07. Since then, I have worked and volunteered for a few different animal related organizations. I'm very thankful to have had hands on experience and to have been around knowledgeable people who taught me what I know. I have been grooming dogs for about 5 years now, and it's truly been so rewarding.

One of our dachshunds, Sally Mae, had a ruptured disc in her back from a degenerative disorder a couple of years ago; she was paralyzed in her back legs. We had to rush her to the Emergency Room at MU Veterinary Hospital. She underwent an exam, an MRI, and then emergency surgery. The experience was a whirlwind of emotions. She was kept in the ICU for five nights and then a regular kennel for three nights. We made many trips to Columbia to visit her. When she was released, she had to do Physical Therapy three times a day with us at home since no one in this area offers PT for animals. She was on cage rest for four weeks, had many medicines, and had a special diet. It was a scary situation that we went through, but we will do anything for our dog babies.
